Reed's Civil War Battle Re-enactment

Sunday, September 12, 2010

Well it has been one of those weeks, John has been sick all week and I feel like I have read thousands of pages of law.  Thankfully John was better by Saturday to go see the battle of Reed's Bridge in Jacksonville.  I dragged John out of the house and made him sit in the hot sun to watch the re-enactment of one the civil war battles that happened here in Arkansas.  I was so excited I have always wanted to go to one, dream fulfilled.  Here are some of the amazing photos I got.  By the way my family served and died on both sides during the civil war.  It was kinda sad to me to think that my ancestors went through horrible battles like the one re-enacted.

We have been busy with numerous activities including:

I started my last and third year of law school, Yeah!!! I am taking 14hrs this semester. My classes are: Decedent's Estates (how to write wills), Mediation Seminar, Commercial Paper (how businesses transfer money), Product's Liability, and Education Law.  My favorite class so far is decedent's estates, the teacher is great and the subject is so important.  My least favorite is commercial paper I just cannot get into the subject.  I am also interning for Judge Baker on the AR court of appeals this semester as a law clerk.  I enjoy law clerking, it really teaches me how to apply real law to real life situations.  I am also the President of J. Reuben Clark Law Society at the law school this semester.

Aww, isn't he cute in uniform.
John is working hard as a scoutmaster at church, and I have been helping since I am on the scout committee and in charge of rank advancements.  We recently held a court of honor in which our boys earned over 40 merit badges and rank advancements.  So proud.

John also went dove hunting with his dad over the labor day weekend-they did not get anything though.  The bad news is that is the weekend that my autoimmune disorder decided to start giving me problems-therefore I am back on steroid treatment.  I went this last week to Girls Night Out put on by clear channel with my cousin, I have gone for the last three years.  I enjoy looking at all the vendors, there is this one company that sells the most amazing goat milk soaps I really enjoy the cranberry chutney one.  So that is what we have been up to.

Raquel's Wedding

Last month I went to a childhood friend's wedding.  It was a small intimate wedding with the reception at the bride's grandmothers home.  My mom made the wedding cake and grooms cake.  I think this cake may have been her best yet.
