Valentines Day

Monday, February 15, 2010

For this valentines day John and I decided to do the old fashion thing and see a movie and eat out. We went to see Percy Jackson and the lightening thief-which was really cool. It has such an interesting view on learning Greek history. Then we tried out the new Panda Garden restaurant on shackleford, it has a great buffet and good Chinese food. On Sunday I gave john my valentine and he gave me a valentine by changing the screen on my computer to be one-he installed windows 7 this weekend so he had complete access. John had an exciting week, on Sunday he got called to be the new scout master. He should have fun with it since he is in all the outdoors stuff. We had to go to the scout store and get him books and a shirt to get started. I have also been working on John's family history this weekend-we have a temple trip coming up in march- and I linked his line back to 1500's. We were right John is from Germany on the Franks side. His family has also been in the US since 1740's in North Carolina. It was a productive weekend.

Another snow weekend

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

February 6-9
So on Saturday we went to James and Natalie's baby shower they will be having their girl in a few weeks. We got them a picture frame that allows you to take hand and feet prints, a giraffe that winds up to play twinkle twinkle little star, and the ever practical bottle brush cleaner. Natalie's friend made the cutest decorations and had wonderful food. John had to come with me because James texted him the night before and asked him to come, making it in all 3 guys-including John-and about 15 ladies. Except that, most of Saturday and Sunday was spent helping John finish our entertainment closet. Shout for joy it is done. The cats cannot play behind the tv and mess up the cords. Monday and Tuesday were snow days it must have snowed over 6 inches. We cleaned house, watched movies, and made snow ice cream. The cats have really enjoyed us being home and have been more cuddly than normal. I expect we will go back to work tomorrow. There is more snow in the future so will see how the week goes. The good news is we needed the time to get over being tired on Monday, the bad thing is that I will be making up classes on Saturdays if this continues.

Snow weekend

January 29-31
So it snowed on Friday enough that we got the day out of school and work. It is so nice that John works at a school and can get off when it snows. The roads were pretty bad and they closed off our road going down the main hill. So we had to drive down the second entrance to go to town. I know your saying why are you driving on dangerous roads surely to get something important. Nope we had to get more stuff for John's closet so shopping at Lowes, and then we got a carpet cleaner to clean the house. So John ran wires in the attic, and we shampooed all our carpets. We have lived at our house for over a year and the carpet needed it. Especially since we learned the reason we were having sinus problems is because our cats have been using our bedroom as a peeing pad. Very gross took a while for use to smell it and we also bought a blacklight which showed us that right under our headboard was the bad spot. So we moved all the furniture out of the rooms and used multiple commercial cleaners to clean all room's carpets. You cannot smell anything now and hopefully neither can our cats-so they dont go their again. It is like good as new. So you ask has this stopped my our sinus problems, not completely. I believe we are on the way of getting over it but we still need some meds. I also went to the doctor and got antibiotics-it is so hard to get John to go to the doctor. So why is a sinus infection such a problem, well it seems to give me nausea and has been making my bile reflux so bad that I am going to my other doctor this week to change to a stronger medicine. The good news is that the nausea has caused me to lose over 15 pounds since the beginning of the year. John has also lost 15 pounds but his is due to portion control. I am sure no chocolate is also helping both of us. With the new medicine I should be back to normal in a couple months since I am now dealing with a relapse in autoimmune problems.

Weekend work

January 23-24
This weekend John started working on his brain child the entertainment closet. First, he had to put in a vent so everything will not get to hot. John's dad came by and helped him with this. It is a good thing he came by because it was more complicated and took more work than he expected. Other than that, it was a quiet weekend.

Parents weekend

Weekend January 16-17
My parents surprised us by coming down for this weekend and hanging out. We got started by visiting a gun show for dad. It was okay, dad just wanted to look and we couldn't afford to buy, but it was interesting. I ran into some tea partiers and talked to them. I find their new political approach interesting, but also political suicide in our state currently, but I believe they are someone to watch. John then had this great idea of going and touring the US Razorback submarine. My dad loves to watch war movies and funny my parents had just watched a show on the submarine. John had heard of it and thought my parents would like it, and sure enough they have not stopped talking about it. So we climbed down into the sub, saw bunks, engine rooms, and missile launch pads. We walked the entire length of the sub and climbed out the other end. In all, it took about an hour. My dad was so mean to the lady leading the tour and spent a lot of time asking hard questions. After this, we ate at Larry's Pizza-a favorite of ours. Then we went to watch 2012 at the cheap theater. It cost a little over 2 dollars so dad was really confused at the low price at first, my parents want a cheap theater in Jonesboro now. That filled up most of our day and we went home-good thing I was so sick from my sinus infection that the coughing was annoying people. My parents stayed for stake conference then headed home. So it was a really short visit but a wonderful time, I love spoiling my parents they do not take care of themselves enough and enjoy live.
