This last weekend we went with another couple to eat at a restaurant called the Pantry. The Pantry had a European feel and food choices. I had a greek salad while John had salmon and pasta, also on the menu were hamburgers and bratwursts. It was good food and a fun atmosphere-the decor was vintage looking. After that we went over to their new house and ate chunky monkey creme pie ( think chocolate crust, peanut butter, bananas, and cream topping).
On Saturday we went to Toyota's Farm to Table tour down at the river market. Toyota sponsored the event and had set up tents around the river market area. At three of the tables they served food prepared by local chefs using local produce -we really enjoyed the food it was amazing I wish they would post the recipes I have no clue how to make the food they did. After we tried three foods and got stamps then we both got an herb to take home-basil and oregano. The fourth booth allowed you to test drive a car and in reward they gave you a solid beautiful maple cutting board. We did not drive but we did ride as passengers in a camry. It was a hybrid, and while I do not see us buying a toyota in the future we were impressed with hybrid cars and how little gas they used. John is hoping that in the future we might be able to get a hybrid of our Ford Escape.
So I know it looks like we go out to eat a lot, and we do love to try new types of food. Helpful hints we have found to not break the pocketbook include: groupon and restaurant.com. Both sites offer discounts on events and food all over the country at discount prices.
